Any Time At All Don’t (you) be sad(悲しんでないで)
Blue Jay Way Please don’t (you) be very long(あんまり待たせないでくれ)

(B’z)
Don’t you cry(泣かないで)

What Goes On You didn’t even think of me(君は僕のことを考えることさえしなかった)
The Ballad of John and Yoko You know they didn’t even give us a chance(彼らは私達にチャンスを与えようともしなかった)
Pleas Please Me I know you never even try, girl(君は試そうともしないんだね)

Don’t Let Me Down Nobody ever loved me like she does(今まで彼女のように愛してくれた人はいない)
not everはneverとほぼ同じなので、Anybody never loved me like she doesのように書き換えることができそうですが、英語では文中でany あるいは any を含む語がnotやnever などの否定の言葉の前に出ることができないので、厳密にいうと文法的には正しくありません。 Nobody never loved me like she doesを使うことはできます。 Nobody ever loved me like she doesの意味になります。
Oh! Darling Don’t ever leave me alone(ひとりぼっちにしないでくれ)

not everはneverと同じなので、Never leave me aloneと同じになります。

Not A Second Time Not a second time(二度とだめだ)
Norwegian Wood there wasn’t a chair(椅子一つもなかった)
Nowhere Man Doesn’t have a point of view(見解一つ持っているわけでもなく)
I’m So Tired I haven’t slept a wink(一睡もできていない)
Girl Still you don’t regret a single day(それでも一日たりとも後悔はしない)

Eight Days A Week I ain’t got nothing but love
Another Girl I ain’t no fool and I don’t take what I don’t want(俺は馬鹿じゃないから欲しくない物は取らないよ)
Helter Skelter You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer(君は恋人かもしれないがダンサーじゃないよ)
Yer Blues If I ain’t dead already(まだ今は死んでいないとしたら)
Revolution You ain’t going to make it with anyone anyhow(誰とでもどんなにしてもうまくいかないだろう)
The Ballad Of John And Yoko You know it ain’t easy(まったく簡単じゃないぜ)
Roll Over Beethoven Ain’t got nothing to lose(失うものは何もない)

Yesterday I’m not half the man I used to be.(僕は全く今までの僕ではない)「半分もあるわけではない」という部分否定のように思われます。

Can’t Buy Me Love Say you don’t need no diamond rings(ダイヤの指輪なんかいらないと言ってくれ)
Happiness Is A Warm Gun I know nobody can do me no harm(誰も俺に害を与えることなのできないさ)
Oh! Darling I’ll never do you no harm(決して君を傷つけたりしない)
Something That I don’t need no other lover(ほかの恋人)
Band On The Run
(Paul McCartney & Wings)
Never seeing no one nice again like you mama(母さんみたいに善良な人にはもう二度と会えない)
(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
(The Rolling Stones)
I can’t get no satisfaction

Golden Slumber Sleep, little darling, do not cry(おやすみ、かわいい子、鳴かないで)

否定語にはnot, no, neverの3つの他に、hardly, little, few, scarcely, seldpmなどの準否定語があります。

16-1-1. not

I don’t think he will come.(彼は来ないだろうと思う)

She is a teacher, not a student.(彼女は先生であって、学生ではない)
I made up my mind not to tell a lie.(私は嘘をつくまいと決心した)

I hope [am afraid, believe, think] not

I wonder if they’ve got lost.—Oh, I hope not.= I hope they have not got lost.(連中迷子になったかな—ああ!

16-1-2. no

No words can describe the scene.(その情景は言葉では言い表わせない)<主語>
There are no churches in this town.(この町には教会はない)<主語>
I have no money with me.= I don’t have any money with me.(私はお金を持合わせておりません)<目的語>

nothing, nobody (no one), none

Nobody can do it.(誰もそれをすることができない)<主語>
I have nothing in my pocket.= I don’t have anything in my pocket.(ポケットの中には何もない)<目的語>
He is second to none in physics.(彼は物理では誰にも劣らない)
Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kiteにおいて、Their production will be second to none.

16-1-2-2. A is no B(名詞・形容詞)「Aは決してBではない」

He is no scholar.(彼は学者どころではない—実際には字もろくすっぽ書けない)

He is not a scholar.(彼は学者ではない—ふつうの否定文)
It’s no trouble at all.(おやすい御用です)
She showed me no small kindness. (no small = a great)(彼女は私にたいへん親切にしてくれた)

16-1-3. never

I never knew where she was.(私は彼女がどこにいるのかまるで知らなかった)
never let any one see the bottom of your purse or your mind.(財布の底と腹の底は誰にも見せるな(諺))

I will never go there.(私は絶対そこへは行きません)

I can hardly wait.(とても待てないくらいだ)
Scarcely anybody can understand him.(彼の言うことはほとんどの人が理解できない)
He seldom quarrels with others.(彼はめったに人と争わない)
He is rarely ill.(彼はめったに病気しない)
Few people came this way.(こちらへ来る人はほとんどいなかった)
A very sick person eats little food.(重病人はほとんど食物を摂らない)

① fewの代わりにnot manyを、littleの代わりにnot (so) muchを使うか、あるいはともにhardly [scarcely] anyを使うことが多い。

② few, littleはa few, a littleとなると肯定になります。

He little thought what would happen.(彼はことがどうなるのか全然考えてもいなかったのだ)

I can’t help you at all.(あなたには全然助力できません)
I’m not in the least afraid of him.(あいつなんかちっとも怖くないよ)
I know nothing whatever [at all].(全然何一つ知りません)

I simply cannot understand you.(貴方の言うことは到底わからないよ)
I cannot possibly come today.(今日はどうしても行けない)

Eight Days A Week I ain’t got nothing but
Another Girl I ain’t no fool and I don’t take what I don’t want
Helter Skelter You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer
Can’t Buy Me Love Say you don’t need no diamond rings
Happiness Is A Warm Gun I know nobody can do me no harm
Oh! Darling I’ll never do you no harm
Something That I don’t need no other lover
Roll Over Beethoven Ain’t got nothing to lose(失うものは何もない)
(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
(The Rolling Stones)
I can’t get no satisfaction

not+全体を示す語(all, every, both, necessary, altogether, entirely, always, quite, very, exactlyなど)
He does not know all of the students.(彼は生徒達を全部知っているわけではない)

He does not know any of the students.(彼は生徒達を誰も知らない)

Not everything matters.
Nothing matters.
I do not always agree with you.
I never agree with him.
I don’t know both of them.
I know neither of them.= I don’t know either of them.

All is not gold that glitters.

※ Led Zeppelinの名曲Stairway To Heavenの歌詞に"There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold"というのがありますね。
She is not altogether happy.

not many, not much

not many, not muchも部分否定で「あまり多くない」のように「弱い否定」を表します。

Not many girls ask for it.(それを要求している女の子はあまり多くない)
I don’t want much.(あまり多くは欲しくない)

16-3-1-1. not A but B「AでなくBだ」

He did not stay there but went home.
I like him not because he’s perfect, but because he has some faults.(完璧だからではなく、欠点があるから彼が好きだ)

16-3-1-2. not only [merely] A but (also) B
not only [merely] A but B as well「AだけでなくBも」

The boy is not only bright but (also) strong.
She can not only soeak French, but write it as well.(彼女はフランス語を話せるだけでなく書くこともできる)

Writing a letter is not only a business. It can be a recreation.(手紙書きは仕事であるばかりでない。

not (only) A but (also) BではA・Bの形を揃えよう

not A but Bでもnot only A, but (also) BでもAとBは形・働きの同じものにすることに注意してください。

He said it not to me but to you.

(拙) He did not say it to me but to you.(←避けた方がよい)

He is well-known not only as a scholar, but as a poet.

He is not only well-known as a scholar, but as a poet.

前の文をItで受けて It is not that…

Not that it makes much difference.(そうはいうものの、そのことで大いに違ってくるということではない)
Not that he loves her.(だからといって彼女を愛しているわけではない)

16-3-1-4.not A because B

not A because B (a型)

You needn’t be ashamed (just) because you were late for school.(君は学校に遅れたからといって恥ずかしがる必要はない)(a型)
I didn’t leave home (just) because I was afraid of my father.(私は父が怖いから家を出たのではない)(a型)
I don’t want an orange because I don’t like orange.(私はオレンジが嫌いだからオレンジは欲しくないというわけではない)<いわゆる”部分否定”のような感じで捉えればわかりやすい>(a型)

not A because B (b型)

just because〜 (a型) , because〜 (b型)

I don’t want an orange , because I don’t like orange.(私はオレンジが嫌いだからオレンジは欲しくない)(b型)

I don’t want an orange not because I don’t like oranges but because I am full now.(私はオレンジが嫌いだからオレンジは欲しくないというわけではなく、今はお腹いっぱいだからです)

I didn’t leave home because I was afraid of my father.

16-3-1-5. 「There is no 〜ing」「〜

There is no denying that fact.= It is impossible to deny that fact.(その事実は否定すべくもないことだ)

They never meet without quarreling.= Whenever they meet, they quarrel.(喧嘩しないで会うことはない = 会えば必ず喧嘩する)

16-3-1-7. 「cannot…too [enough]〜」「

You cannot be too careful about what you are doing.(自分のしていることにどんなに注意してもし過ぎることはない)
I can’t thank you enough.(どれだけ御礼申し上げてもまだ足りません)

16-3-1-8. 「cannot help 〜ing」「〜

I couldn’t help laughing.= I could not but laugh(笑わずにはいられなかった)
I could not but laugh. I could not help but laugh.

16-3-1-9. 「no sooner 〜 than」「〜が早いか」

He had no sooner left his house than it began to rain.= He had hardly [scarcely] left his house when [before] it began to rain.(家を出るが早いか雨が降り出した)

16-3-1-10. 「not 〜 until…」「…

We don’t know the blessing of health until we lose it.(健康を失ってみて初めてその有り難さがわかる)

16-3-2-1. 「fail to do」「〜しそこねる」

He failed to come.(彼は来なかった)

His answer was far from (being) satisfactory.(彼の返答は到底満足できるものではなかった)

16-3-2-3. 「anything but〜」=far from 〜

It is anything but pleasant.(それは楽しいどころではない)

16-3-2-4. 「the last A〜」「決して〜しないA」(A=人まはたは物)

She was the last person I expected to see there.= I did not at all expect to see her there.(そこで彼女に会おうとは思ってもみなかった)

16-3-2-5. 「A prevent [keep] B from 〜ing」「AのためBは〜できない」

The rain prevented [kept] me from coming here.(雨のためここへ来られなかった)

16-3-2-6. 「too〜(for A) to…」「あまり〜過ぎて(Aが)…ない」

She was too busy to go shopping.= She was so busy that she could not go shopping.(彼女はあまりに忙しすぎて買い物に行けなかった)

too 〜 to… とso 〜 that…

1 too 〜 to… とso 〜 that…

too 〜 to… のto以下は「句」(不定詞)がくるが、so 〜 that… 次の例で、too 〜 to cannot read…

This book is too difficult for me to read.= This book is so difficult that I cannot read it.(この本は難しすぎて私には読めません)
2 too 〜 to…

so 〜 that…

My father walks so fast that I cannot catch up with him.= My father walks too fast for me to catch up with him.(私の父はとても速く歩くので、私は追いつくことができない)
